It is good to read this book now, at the age I am. It makes me critical. At the same time, I need to cry with nostalgia for a forest that no longer exist. Nov 12, Mari rated it it was ok. Warren Dean was a pioneer and he wrote about Atlantic Forest history in a broad scale time and space that is unmatched till the present. These are the merits of the book, and they are huge. However it has the main flaw of considering the forest history only as one of destruction.
